Description
 The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) is seeking applicants for a Junior Digital Forensic Analyst position, within the Digital Forensics Unit. Our agency works closely with all NYC Prosecutors, NYPD, DEA, and other law enforcement agencies. Through technology, the IT development team creates a productive environment through digital transformation and eliminating manual processes.


In this role, you will be responsible for conducting digital investigations, analyzing electronic evidence, and supporting the overall cybersecurity efforts of our organization. The selected candidate will be expected to support a range of confidential investigations by retrieving, reviewing and examining digital evidence from electronic devices such as laptops, mobile devices, desktop computers, servers, tablets, and DVR devices. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, be familiar with programming such as SQLite and Python, as well as paying attention to detail, and a passion for staying abreast of the latest developments in digital forensics arena. S/he will support other team members when needed and promote a positive team environment in the unit and the agency. Additional responsibilities will include helping to ensure and create forensic policies and procedures,

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform forensic analysis on a variety of digital devices, including computers, servers, mobile devices, and network equipment.
  • Utilize forensic tools such as AXIOM, Graykey, Cellebrite, and other industry-standard tools to collect and analyze electronic evidence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including incident response, legal, and IT, to provide expert insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of forensic processes, evidence collection, tracking and analysis findings.
  • Stay current on the latest trends, tools, and techniques in digital forensics and cybersecurity.
  • Provide expert testimony and written reports in legal proceedings when necessary
Educational Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or 4 years of related experience.
  • Technical Reporting/Writing and strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Computer Forensic Training and Certifications
  • Strong application skills in all Desktop Office productivity programs: Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Quick learner, with ability to share knowledge with other team members.
Note: Generally, hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm however work outside those hours may occasionally be necessary.
