About the Office
The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) for the City of New York is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement agency dedicated to combatting complex narcotics and related offenses. Working in coordination with local, state, and federal partners, SNP plays a critical role in ensuring public safety through strategic investigations, prosecutions, and innovative criminal justice solutions.

Position Overview
The Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office seeks an experienced and visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the agency’s Information Technology (IT) operations and strategy. The CIO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for aligning technology initiatives with the office’s public safety mission, ensuring the integrity and security of sensitive law enforcement data, and overseeing the modernization of IT infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy in alignment with the agency’s mission and operational needs.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the IT Department, including systems administration, network security, infrastructure, software development, digital evidence management, and help desk support.
  • Oversee the secure storage, access, and transfer of sensitive and confidential law enforcement data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and city regulations regarding information security, data privacy, and criminal justice IT standards.
  • Collaborate with prosecutors, investigators, and external law enforcement agencies to support technology-driven investigations and prosecutions.
  • Direct IT procurement processes, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance investigative and prosecutorial capabilities.
  • Lead incident response and disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of IT professionals and promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably within a government, law enforcement, or criminal justice environment.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex IT systems and infrastructure in a high-security environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, digital forensics, and criminal justice information systems (CJIS).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and execute strategic technology initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must pass a background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with digital evidence platforms, case management systems, and law enforcement databases.
  • Familiarity with NYC government or other public-sector IT systems.
