Description

The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor is currently seeking candidates for managerial-level Supervising Investigator positions within the Investigation Unit. In this position the Supervising Investigator will supervise the work of Senior and Racket Investigators in securing and verifying facts for use in criminal proceedings and for possible legislative action makes especially difficult investigations. Applicants must have extensive knowledge and investigative experience in one or more of the following areas: organized crime, narcotics trafficking, money laundering, and violent crime. In addition, will oversee Investigators who are responsible for surveillance, monitoring court authorized wire- taps, examining business records, collecting evidence, and participating in sensitive undercover operations. Candidates will conduct difficult and highly confidential investigations and library research projects. Prepares reports and maintains necessary confidential records. Use various City databases to perform background and information searches, such as: eJustice, IIS, IFCOM, Webcrims, Google, and various watchdog registries. Performs related work and all other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:
All applicants must have a minimum of four years of law enforcement or criminal investigative experience of which two years must have been in a supervisory capacity
Must have an extensive administrative background
Must have the ability to conduct confidential and sensitive investigations
Ability to interact with all levels of staff and other law enforcement agencies
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal skills required
Ability to communicate investigative results to other team members and to testify in court regarding investigative results required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Must possess the ability and readiness to quickly learn and use various industry relevant computer software
Must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment; detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Current or renewable NYS police officer certification preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or its equivalent and four  years of full-time, paid experience in police enforcement or investigative work, one year of which must have been in rackets or police investigative work.

  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above. However, all candidates are required to have full-time, paid experience in rackets or police investigative work.


Additional Requirements:
Must possess critical thinking skills and strong research ability
Must have a valid NYS driver’s license

Must pass a medical exam, drug test, psychological screening and an intensive background check

As per NY Public Officers Law 2, §3-B, U.S. citizenship required

Ability to work flexible hours
