Description

At Special Narcotics Prosecutor, we are committed towards a safer and more secure future for our communities. We are looking for Crime Analyst to be responsible for utilizing data analysis techniques and software tools to support law enforcement agencies and task forces engaged in narcotics investigations. The analyst collects, processes, and analyzes data related to drug trafficking and related criminal activities to provide actionable insights and intelligence to support operational and data driven strategic decision-making. The position involves collaborating with law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, and other stakeholders to identify trends, patterns, and emerging threats in the narcotics trade.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Data Collection and Processing:

    • Collect and aggregate data from various sources, including law enforcement reports, intelligence databases, surveillance operations, and open data sources.
    • Validate, clean, and preprocess data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency for analysis purposes.
    • Organize and maintain data repositories and databases to facilitate efficient retrieval and analysis.


Data Analysis and Visualization:

    • Utilize statistical analysis techniques using Power BI and other software tools to analyze and interpret data related to overdoses, narcotics trafficking, distribution networks, and drug-related crimes.
    • Develop and implement data visualization techniques to present findings in a clear, concise, and visually helpful manner.
    • Generate easy to understand dashboards, reports, and interactive visualizations to communicate insights and trends to law enforcement agencies and task force members.

Intelligence Development:

    • Translate data analysis findings into actionable intelligence products, including analytical reports, bulletins, and briefings.
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, correlations, and anomalies indicative of drug-related activities.

Trend Analysis and Forecasting:

    • Monitor and analyze emerging trends in drug markets, overdoses, including changes in drug availability and distribution methods.
    • Provide strategic assessments and recommendations to guide resource allocation and operational planning.

Assist ADA’s with Investigations:

    • Compile and examine data in criminal investigations involving narcotics.
    • Prepare data visualizations, including maps, charts, graphs, reports, spreadsheets and link analysis reports.
    • Testify in court regarding analysis performed during investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in data analysis, and statistics, with some experience working with law enforcement preferred or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques and statistical analysis tools commonly used for analysis, such as Excel, Power BI or Tableau. Experience with mapping tools, preferably ArcGIS and knowledge of R and SQL.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, and with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
